Switch Fault Detection and Localization for T-Type Converter

Over the past decade, multilevel converters have received considerable interest in medium voltage applications. A large number of active switches a converter increases probability switch failure and decreases reliability system. An open fault can lead to malfunction whole system should be diagnosed as soon possible. In this paper, an open-switch diagnosis method for five-level H-Bridge T-type is presented. The proposed detection localization algorithm are based on switching patterns output level observation. This approach capable detect localize circuit all switches. First, it validated by simulations Matlab Simulink Simscape toolbox environments. Experimental results also presented discussed validate simulation results.
